5 Projects Reshaping the Toowoomba Region
Toowoomba is in the middle of one of the biggest periods of infrastructure investment in its history. 1. Southern Water Treatment Plant, Westbrook
A $145 million injection from the State Government is funding a new water treatment plant at Westbrook. This isn't just a utilities upgrade. It's the piece of infrastructure that unlocks land supply, with capacity to support up to 33,000 new homes across the Region.

2. New Toowoomba Hospital
Construction continues at the old Baillie Henderson site on the new Toowoomba Hospital, a $1.3 billion project. Once complete, it will add 118 overnight beds and expand treatment spaces across key medical disciplines.

3. Social Housing Projects
Across the Region, a number of social housing developments are underway, funded by the Queensland Government and delivered in partnership with organisations including the Salvation Army, Mission Australia and St Vincent de Paul Society.

4. Charlton Industrial Area
Once considered the edge of town, Charlton is fast becoming the Region's industrial and logistics hub. The growth has been driven by two major pieces of enabling infrastructure: Toowoomba Wellcamp Airport and the Toowoomba Second Range Crossing.

5. Toowoomba Showgrounds to Equestrian Centre of Excellence
Perhaps the most exciting development on this list is the redevelopment of the Toowoomba Showgrounds into the Toowoomba Equestrian Centre of Excellence. The site will host equestrian and para-equestrian events for the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
